This International Women’s Day, we’re especially proud to celebrate the incredible women on our team and the immeasurable impact they have on our business and industry. In the specialty coffee industry, we are proud to have The Ladies of Macallum Connoisseurs at the helm and leading the conversation. Being a barista is mostly considered to be a man’s job, but it’s something Jin Yu has always wanted to do. Inspired by the intricate and beautiful latte arts along her cafe-hopping adventures, Jin Yu started to grow interested in the industry. Macallum Connoisseurs were one of the only cafes that provided training for budding talents to grow and flourish. Jin Yu went on to secure a position at Macallum Connoisseurs as a barista intern, becoming a permanent Senior barista afterward. Jin Yu grew to study coffee in a very detailed manner and continues her daily pours with the highest amount of seriousness, passion, and detail. Additionally, she also enjoys the customer-facing role, with hopes to make a positive difference in people’s lives with a great cup of coffee. To her, success can be as simple as making herself or loved ones a good coffee on a bad day. The coffee Jin Yu serves is smooth, and flavorful, with refreshing notes - mirroring her personality! At Macallum Connoisseurs, we always strive to champion and elevate women across our entire business. This international women's day, we’ve also partnered with our friends from The Unusual Greens Gelato - who shows the magic that happens when women are given the chance to lead!
