Tanabata (七夕), or the Star Festival, is a vibrant festival in Japan that involves the tradition of writing wishes on small, colourful strips of paper, also called tanzaku, and hanging them on branches of bamboo trees in the hopes that the wishes come true. Based on a story of star-crossed lovers, it’s a beautiful and colourful event that is celebrated on the seventh day of the seventh month every year.
