#AwangSamrow is a musician not unfamiliar to the local Malaysian indie music scene. He is a member of the duo band Kyogg (with Margasatwa vocalist Kimal), and the frontman for the band #PLONG (with Pitahati members Hidayat and Yasin). For his solo musical project, Awang Samrow noticed a lack of musicians writing or singing in Terengganu, even those hailing from the state. Once known for a thriving rock scene in the 80s, there is little to no catalog of music in the dialect, especially those made in today’s modern music scene. With this in mind, he decided to bring his roots to the forefront of his project, with most of his songs written in the state’s dialect. Awang Samrow will be releasing the first single entitled “Dok Degih” from his debut album ‘Pok Snahu’ later this year.
