MR.DIY undertakes the second series of 2023 “Upcycle: Walk with Style” Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives held on 12th and 13th February, which saw 200 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Seri Gelugor, Kerteh and 450 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Kemasek (SK) attended this program. MR.DIY partnered with Soroptimist International Damansara (SID), for this two half days program based on the “reuse principle” which reduces wastage and addressing sustainability due to the change of regulations in replacing white school shoes with black ones effective in the year 2021. Through this project, the children get the chance to upcycle over 650 white unused school shoes by designing them based on their creative ideas which later turn into brand-new items for them to own. Teachers from the schools involved expressed their gratitude to both MR.DIY and SID. They mentioned “Thank you for considering our school as one of the institutions to participate in the “Walk With Style” program and it is wonderful to see our students being given the opportunity to unleash their talent and creativity. We hope to have more program like this in the future because this half day program is indirectly a formal program on creativity and sustainability”.
