This International Women’s Day, we’re especially proud to celebrate the incredible women on our team and the immeasurable impact they have on our business and industry. In the specialty coffee industry, we are proud to have The Ladies of Macallum Connoisseurs at the helm and leading the conversation. As a roaster (and a woman) where the majority of coffee roasters are men, Kar Yingaspires to be a role model for others so that they might imagine themselves in the industry, working towards a realistic goal as a female coffee professional. Kar Ying started her coffee journey as a waitress and quickly went from a waitress to a coffee roaster due to her interest in learning about coffee. After going through a 2-year roasting mentorship, she’s now specialized in sourcing specialty-grade coffees, finding the perfect roast profile for the perfect brew. Today, KarYing aims to be part of the change for women in specialty coffee, not only on International Women’s Day but every day. At Macallum Connoisseurs, we always strive to champion and elevate women across our entire business. This IWD, we’ve also partnered with our friends from The Unusual Greens Gelato - who show the magic that happens when women are given the chance to lead!
