YBR co-founder Jason Loo is well known in coffee circles as the three-time Malaysian Barista Champion, but few know that he was originally a pastry chef. It’s Jason’s hand that’s literally behind the amazing treats at our small-batch bakery, and he works every day to create new pastries, prepare ingredients, bake, decorate and organise deliveries while also looking after the cafe as a whole. He is too self-effacing to make a big deal of any of this, preferring instead to share his skills, knowledge and experience with his colleagues in Team YBR. “The more we share, the better we can stand together,” he says. “I think this is so important in the world today that makes us want to keep looking inward and make us selfish and alone. Just like a cake - sure we can enjoy it all by ourselves, but we enjoy it so much more when we share the joy with others.”
