Although the problem of dental anxiety and dental fear (DAF) have often been overlooked, they are the most persistent and challenging physiological issue confronting every practising dentist. Since the 1960’s, the prevalence of high dental fear ranged between 5-22% among adolescents and adults. The prevalence among children is much higher being 3-43%. Dentally fearful patients have a substantially deteriorated oral health compared with non-fearful patients. Additionally, highly fearful patients add constant stress to dentists. This webinar will highlight the problem of DAF, its consequences and associated factors worldwide and specifically in Malaysia. Local research data will be presented to accentuate our understanding of DAF at various points throughout the life course of the Malaysian population. #MAHSA #BeMORE 🌐 For more webinars from the Faculty of Dentistry vist
