In this week's sports news: ● Former two time World Junior badminton champion Jin Wei scored a 21-10, 21-17 win against India's Malvika Bansod to reach the main draw of the Super 500 Malaysia Masters that's currently held at Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil. She once defeated the current No.1 Akane Yamaguchi of Japan back in 2019. ● World No.1 Axelsen continues to show why he is the world's best after beating Japan's Kento Momota in a one sided match in the Malaysia Open final. The reigning Olympic champion outplayed Momota in both sets with a score of 21-4, 21-7. ● Paris Saint-Germain sacks head coach Mauricio Pochettino after 18 months in charge. The club won the Coupe de France and the league title under his reign. Christophe Galtier is expected to be announced as Pochettino's successor in the coming days. ● The Netherlands international full back Tyrell Malacia is signed to Manchester United on a four year contract until June 2026 with an option to extend another year. The transfer will cost a total of £17m. He is the first new arrival of current Manchester United head coach Erik Ten Hag. ● When the Nets signed Durant, Harden and Irving, they were deemed to be one of the favorite teams to win the NBA championship. However, things went south when Harden left to join the 76'ers, Kyrie not playing half of the season due to covid restrictions and losing to the Celtics in round 1 of the playoffs. It could be why Durant wants to be traded but with 4 years left in Durant's contract, the Nets isn't gonna trade him until their price is met. ● Zion Williamson will continue to play for the Pelicans after agreeing to a 5 year contract deal that is worth up to $231m. Williamson missed most of the 21-22 season due to injury and has recently been cleared to engage in basketball activities without restrictions.
