We've put together some fast facts to share how we do it 🤓 1 Utama employs advanced technology in our comprehensive air treatment and filtration systems to produce truly clean air through various methods: ✅ High Efficiency Hospital-grade MERV13 Air Filters are used to trap 90% of airborne particles, haze, dust, dirt and other kinds of pollutants to provide round-the-clock protection ✅ Air is further purified by Powerful UV Lights installed inside AHU's (air handling units) that irradiate cooling coils to prevent biosludge built-up and kill harmful microbes, bacteria and viruses in the air ✅ Indoor air is frequently purged out from inside the mall throughout the day via rooftop exhaust fans and replaced with fresh air above and beyond the 10% - 15% building standard for fresh air intake. Furthermore, air in the entire mall is also totally purged every week at 3am and replaced by outdoor air when air is at its coolest and freshest ✅ Smart electronic sensors pick up high levels of carbon dioxide concentration and sends the signal back to 1 Utama's Building Automation System (B.A.S.) to replace the stale air with fresh outdoor air ✅ Our AHU rooms, where air handling and filtering systems are installed, are deep cleaned with effective high pressure steam to keep all equipment in tip top shape ✅ Air-conditioning cooling towers are washed thoroughly and the water is treated with biocide to prevent growth of bacteria, legionella and microorganisms, with water quality even tested by independent labs ♻️🦸‍♂️ We also ensure that our systems are Energy Efficient and Green for the good of the environment: • Solar PV (Photovoltaic) Panels powered by the sun are placed on 1 Utama's rooftop to run exhaust fans during the day to expel hot air that rises to the ceiling and thereby inducing fresh air intake. Harnessing solar energy helps reduce electricity consumption and reduces the peak demand for electrical energy from the power grid • Heat Wheels further recover and extract the coolness in the foul air to be exhausted for use to pre-cool the incoming outdoor air • 1 Utama uses higher efficiency disposable paper filters known for their superior air filtering performance (instead of normal filters that has to be washed with chemicals on a regular basis which is environmentally damaging).
