Good news here is, the famous Thai restaurant, Pim's Thai Food, located in Klang prized for its Super Seafood Tom Yum Pot has extended its business with a new branch in Aman Suria Petaling Jaya named Pim’s & The Rama - Real Thai Restaurant + Bar.
Pim’s Thai Food and Pim’s & The Rama serve authentic thai food and thai street food cooked by a team of professional chefs. Pim’s & The Rama, just as the original branch, looks like a cafe rather than a typical Thai restaurant. Once we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by grey tones, and warmth lighting, coupled with cheery natural light from their floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
Interestingly, they also had an area filled with bits of Thai history, collectables, and photos of the late King.
And now the food. We ordered a set lunch (RM12.90) - Thai Braised Pork Leg on Rice with soup and salad, and upgraded our drinks to Thai Ice Milk Tea by only adding RM2, and another RM5 for a Thai Red Ruby Dessert. On top of that, of course we had to try the Thai Tom Yam Seafood with Coconut Milk or as they call it Tom Yam Ta Lay Ma Pao Oan (RM29.50), and their Thai Pandan Chicken at RM18.90 for four pieces.
The Braised Pork Leg Rice was very delicious and fulfilling. The pork was braised long enough to absorb all the herbs and flavours, and more importantly, it melted in our mouths. The egg came with a slightly runny yolk which we loved! This dish tasted very authentic and if you’re a Thai street food lover, you’ll love this for sure.
The Tom Yum Soup was served in a clay pot, filled with oyster mushrooms, prawns, squid, and some Tom Yum spices. It was also a pleasant surprise to find mussels in the soup - something we don’t usually get in other Thai restaurants. The prawns were large, juicy and very fresh! However, the soup wasn’t hot enough when it was served, but the spiciness and sourness of the soup was on the dot. So overall we give this one an “A”.
Thai Pandan Chicken was the best among all. It came in four pieces of marinated chicken wrapped around with pandan leaves. Pandan leaves added aroma to the chicken pieces, keeping them juicy even after being fried. The chicken wasn’t too greasy, and the savory-sweet taste of it, combined with hints of pandan and garlic blended really well. We’d suggest to put this in your must-try list!
For those who were born in November and December, please take advantage of your big day by claiming a 30% off for your Tom Yum pot if you’re dining at Pim’s and The Rama three days before or after your birthday. Promotion is until end of December 2017 (Mark this down!). Besides, their set lunch promotion (12pm - 3.30pm) is worth considering too because portions are sizable and they come with salad and soup. Office crowd, don’t miss this!
Our dining experience at Pim’s and The Rama exceeded our expectations. So, for Thai food lovers, if you want a satisfying Thai meal, we highly recommend this one.
