When it comes to a Thai place, it is always a must to order the ever-so-famous Thai Milk Tea, which is one of Amphawa’s signature drinks. The orange coloured sweet concoction that is made out of strong Thai black tea and condensed milk - simple with a rich taste.
Ever heard or tried cheese green tea as part of your drink? You must be thinking, so just what does cheese green tea taste like? The idea of cheese and tea can be off-putting for the average person. We were highly skeptical too, until we tried it. Amphawa’s cheese green tea offers a thick layer of slightly savoury cream cheese that caps the green tea beneath. The drink offers a distinctly sweet green tea flavour that surprisingly complements the background of slightly salty cream cheese very well!
Besides drinks, there were also a few types of dessert in the menu. We’re pretty sure that most of us have tried the usual Thai desserts like mango sticky rice and coconut ice-cream at some place else, but what caught our eyes was the Milk Tea Kaya Toast. Sounds like a weird combination, right?
As you can see from the picture, the milk tea wasn’t like the usual milk tea drink, but instead it was served as part of the sauce for the kaya toast with sprinkles of coconut flakes. It gives a rich combination of sweet from the milk tea and kaya and salty taste from the coconut flakes, which wasn’t exactly to our liking, but hey, different people have different opinion on their likings in a dessert.
Besides drinks and dessert, they also specialize in their very own signature Tom Yam Bowl with rice noodle. We were a little too full to order their noodle, but it definitely did look very appetizing! Try it out for us, will ya?
