If looks could kill, the Predator Orion 9000 has tons of it. Short of dropping it on your opponent as an actual weapon, the chassis of this monster is huge and aggressive. Loaded with armor-like angular cuts, meshed vents and tempered glass windows, the Predator Orion 9000 exudes a menacing air that surely means business. If you are into intimidating your opponents pre-battle, there no short of choices here with LED lighting gracing the front and insides with 16.7 million colors to cycle through via the RGB color control panel. The chassis has an airflow management design called IceTunnel 2.0, a combination of high-end CPU liquid cooler and positive air cooling system that can blow through separate compartmentalised thermal zones for an overall better cooling performance and heat dissipation while you are blitzing noobs.
Acer calls the chassis “Monolithic yet malleable” The towering chassis was built by Acer’s engineers to adapt, integrate and realize your ultra-gaming and mega-tasking needs. The chassis is semi-portable with wheels on the back (you can see it in the video above) so you can kind of lug the whole thing to your next LAN party but trust us when we say you could throw your back out doing it by yourself so do get help with hauling this beast around.
The Predator Orion 9000 is prepped to be always battle ready! Acer has given us in Malaysia the option of either the Intel Core i7 8700k or the monstrous 18-core Intel Core i9-7980XE for a CPU. We are also given the choices of up to 32GB of quad-channel DDR4 RAM, up to 32TB of SSD storage, up to 3TB 7200rpm hard drive and a 1000w power supply to feed this beast. In terms of graphics choices, we Malaysians are only given the two Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080Ti GPUs in SLI but not the four RX Vega GPUs configuration.
Boy, talk about over-compensating, but in a good way of course!
There is a unique feature on the Predator Orion 9000 called “one-punch overclocking” which will allow you to boost performance just by pressing a “Turbo” button on top of the system’s front panel. Ah, just like the good old pre-100MHZ CPU days!
Don’t say we didn’t warn you but Acer mentioned the prices for the Predator Orion 9000 will start at a “reasonable” RM13000, up to RM28888 for the Core i9 variant at its highest configuration. Wowza! But as they say with great specs comes an insane price tag, or something like that and the Predator Orion 9000 sure does come with one heck of an opponent beating spec, barring your gaming skill of course.
