Upon reaching Rubs for lunch, we were greeted by a team of welcoming staff. The interior of the double-storey outlet was tastefully decorated with touches of modern industrial finishings, all beautifully lit by the generous natural sunlight that came in through the glass roof.
The staff recommended a few dishes for us to try and we started off with Rubs Rizzo (RM21.90), deep fried rissoles filled with either smoked duck, chicken, or seafood, We opted of the smoked duck and were pleasantly surprised that such small puffs could contain so many delicious flavours!
We also tried one of their crowd favourites, Taste of Lisboa (RM42.90), an Iberican style roast chicken. We were presented with half a chicken, fries, and mesclun mix all nice plated on a wooden board. The chicken was perfectly cooked - juicy, tender, and bursting with flavours, all testament to their unique marination and culinary expertise.
And finally, we tasted Get Shorty (RM96.90), smoked beef short ribs braised in its own juice with veggies and potato gnocchi. This seemingly unassuming bowl of beef quickly became our favourite dish that day. The gravy was indulgent and creamy, yet it didn’t overwhelm the meat - which was braised perfectly to retain its moisture and flavours.
There’s also a bar located upstairs perfect for post-work chatters and camaraderie. Do give Rubs a try if you’re near Lorong Kurau or looking for a quiet place to dine, away from the hustle and traffic of the city.
