The first Chizu Drink outlet in Malaysia was launched in Sunway Pyramid earlier this year, bringing us this original handcrafted Japanese cheese drink that combines frothy Japanese cheese foam with a variety of fragrant teas, chocolate, coffee and fruity drinks.

The cup is designed so that you can consume the drink without a straw. Just open the flap and tilt the cup at a 45 degree angle, so that you can sip both the top and bottom layers of your Chizu Drink at the same time. You will find yourself having a cute little cheese foam mustache that is very Instagrammable.

The Cheese Teas come in 4 flavours - Jasmine Green Tea, Premium Red Tea, Season Tea, and Japanese Roasted Oolong Tea. You can choose which type cheese foam to go with these teas (Less Cheese RM9 / Regular RM11 / Super Flavour RM14).

Aside from fragrant Cheese Teas, Chizu also offers a variety of Cheese Drinks - Oreo Cheese, Matcha Red Bean Cheese, Chocolate Cheese, Cheese Coffee, and Blackcurrant Cheese. Similar with the Cheese Teas, you can choose different intensities of cheesiness for your Cheese Drinks, according to your preference (Less Cheese RM11 / Regular RM13 / Super Flavour RM16). Obviously if you’re an avid cheese lover, you should max up to Super Flavour!

Recently, Chizu Drink launched two new Cheese Drinks, namely, the Nutty Cocoa Latte Cheese (RM18) and the Pink Guaba Umeboshi Cheese (RM16). There was a promotion during the launch where if you bought either of these new drinks, you'd get an additional Cheese Tea for free (any flavour).

Hence, we decided it was the perfect time to visit Chizu Drink to try out their cheese teas. We visited the outlet in Sunway Pyramid (there are two more outlets in Mid Valley Megamall and IOI City Mall).

We bought the two new promotional drinks, choosing to go with regular cheese foam for both. For our free Cheese Teas, we settled on the Season Tea and Japanese Roasted Oolong Tea, also topped with regular cheese foam.

The Pink Guaba Umeboshi Cheese drink is quite a tall drink. The top layer of cheese is smooth, thick and creamy. It tastes salty, but not too salty. The bottom layer is a lovely ombre of pink and orange; a thirst-quenching blend of sweet fruit juice.

If you've never drank this type of cheese drink before, it does taste a bit unusual at first. However, after taking a few gulps of the drink, it is pretty delicious. The contrast between the frothy cheese top layer and fruity bottom layer is quite nice and refreshing to the palate.

As for the Nutty Cocoa Latte Cheese, it is a very delectable chocolaty drink with a rich taste of cocoa and a generous drizzle of nuts on top of the cheese layer. The cheese foam on this drink is significantly lighter and frothier than the cheese foam on the Pink Guaba Umeboshi Cheese drink. The cheese foam blends well with the cocoa latte, adding a slight saltiness to the drink.

The Season Tea and Japanese Roasted Oolong Tea are healthy teas with immunity boosting qualities and are rich in vitamins. These teas also have the lighter, frothier cheese foam on top which compliments the teas very well.

Both teas are quite refreshing, thus are perfect for the hot weather. The Season Tea is slightly sweeter in taste, while the Japanese Roasted Oolong Tea has that hint of roasted bitterness.

After our drink tasting session, we concluded that we liked all four Chizu Drinks that we ordered, with the new Nutty Cocoa Latte Cheese drink standing out as the clear favourite (but that's a no-brainer since we love chocolate and cheese). Still, if you are not keen on the cheese drinks, you can always opt for one of their pure fruit teas or various coffee drinks.

In addition, you can order an assortment of cakes and tarts to go with your drinks. We had 5 sushi cakes for RM20, and the correct way to eat them is with chopsticks.
