Hefting the Ronin-S in our hand, it’s interesting to note that unlike a lot of other gimbal manufacturers, DJI has managed to place the camera above the roll axis by positioning the gimbal motor at a 45-degree angle below the mount, allowing you clear unimpeded view to the rear display of your camera.
Coming with two frame size mountings, the Ronin-S supports most popular DSLRs and mirrorless cameras bodies. Also, if you fear that the gimbal might be too slender and weak to push through the motions with a heavy camera attached, worry not as the Ronin-S is packed with durable high-torque motors that will surely get the job done.
Similar to the DJI Osmo, their mobile phone gimbal, the Ronin-S is built with all-in-one easy to access thumb triggers and dedicated control buttons for both camera and gimbal, allowing users to control multiple functions from rolls, tilts, flips, locks and recenter to controlling the camera’s focus on the fly.
The gimbal can be attached to a tripod for a more stable free standing base to shoot from or it can be easily mounted onto a RC buggy for low-to-the-ground shots. The Ronin-S can even act as a stabilised remote head when mounted onto a jib. This detachment feature also makes it more convenient for storage and transport to your next shooting location.
Multiple connection ports for power and data are placed conveniently around the Ronin-S. A 12V power supply is driven through the USB-C and 2x8 pin connectors, allowing the Ronin-S to support LED lights, microphone, wireless video transmitters, controller receivers, lens control motors and even a compact field monitor, if you should need one.
The Ronin-S includes a suite of automated features within the DJI Ronin app, giving you access to intelligent features that lets you produce even more creative professional footage to unlock your true filmmaking potential.
Versatility is key for the Ronin-S. From its innovative construction to a wide range of accessories, the gimbal aims to provide professional film makers an easy to use platform. The DJI Ronin-S is now available for purchase at DJI’s official Malaysian distributor for RM2780.
