Enjoy Guilt-free Vegan Ice Cream at Kind Kones

Well, Kind Kones is a newly opened ice cream bar and they are gonna take you off that sinfulness and yet, still be able to enjoy the happiness that you feel whenever you have an ice cream.

Believe it or not; Kind Kones is Malaysia’s first vegan ice cream bar! The creator and owner, Serina S Bajaj, who also owns Raisin’ The Roof (a vegetarian restaurant), hopes to allow everyone to enjoy ice cream whether they’re vegan, lactose intolerant or people who have allergies on certain food.

The ice cream is free from artificial preservatives, stabilisers, emulsifiers, colouring, synthetic additives, refined sugar and of course, dairy - which is exactly what you’ll get in a normal creamy and rich ice cream. However, in Kind Kones, they replace the dairy base with almond, cashew or coconut milk. As for the sweetness, they use coconut nectar, maple syrup or agave.

Currently, they have a dozen flavors available daily, including sorbets. Kind Kones also uses seasonal fruits for one of their flavors (they have Jackfruit flavour now!). The price starts from a single scoop for RM9.90, and a double scoop for RM17.50. If you’d like to have a cone, there’s a choice of flourless gluten-free cone (RM3.90) and wholemeal vegan cone (RM1.90).

We decided to order one of the all time favorites and another random flavour to have the best of both worlds. Hence, we ordered a single scoop of mocha almond chocolate chip (which is one of the favorites) and a single scoop of pineapple mint sorbet with a wholemeal vegan cone!

The Mocha Almond Chocolate Chip is made with a blend of coconut milk, coffee, cacao, roasted almonds and chocolate chips. Surprisingly, it was still creamy and smooth, even without dairy milk!

As for the Pineapple Mint Sorbet, it was so refreshing. It’s not too minty, nor too much of a pineapple taste. Besides ice creams, there’s cakes too!

We had a slice of their Raw Dragonfruit Chia ‘Cheesecake’ (RM14.90) as well, which is made of a rich and mildly sweet raw cashew ‘cheesecake’ layer topped by dragon fruit and chia seed with a slight taste of coconut to it.

The taste has its own uniqueness to it.

 

Even though everything is mainly vegan and has a healthy taste to it; but to be honest, it’s actually pretty good - coming from non-vegans here :D One thing’s for sure, you’ll have less-guilt and calorie counting.

P/S: If you can’t get enough, you can always grab a take-home pint for RM41.50 but do remember, it can only keep up to 72 hours in the freezer!
