As they say: If it ain’t broken don’t fix it. In terms of general phone design, we can’t help but compare it to its fellow “country phones” like the S8 and Note8, bearing close similarities in some angles but to be fair LG is just giving the mobile market what they asked for, something “bigger, sleeker, curvier, glassier” Overall the phone looks clean and minimalistic with curved to back Gorilla Glass 5 (also like the S8 and Note8) making the phone very comfortable to hold, use and view.
Display wise, LG has outdone themselves this year by upgrading to OLED screens on the V30. This smartphone amazes us with its best screen to body ratio to date on an LG device. Featuring a 6-inch 1440 X 2880 Quad HD resolution OLED display that is highly capable of generating brilliant colors, pure blacks, perfect shadings and supporting HDR content.
The V30 features a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM and a choice of 64GB or 128GB internal storage. The device comes with 3,300mAh battery that charges via USB-C and wireless dock, giving you a full day of power with regular smartphone usage. The LG V30 will be available in these colors: Black, Blue, Lavender and Silver
Let put this straight, V30 blows everybody elses out of the water and we are not the only one that thinks so. The dual camera on the V30 are a 13-megapixels wide-angle camera with f1.9 lens and a 16-megapixels with f/1.6, that allows for good quality low light photos. The combination of these dual camera allows the V30 to cover and pull off a lot of different shots.
The front camera of the V30 is a 5-megapixel f/2.2 shooter, decent for a selfie camera.
Videography is where the V30 also shines above the other so-called video capable competitions. The V30 is the first smartphone ever to allow users to have full manual video controls over ISO, shutter speed, white balance and focus. With additional toys like Cine Effect that has 16 different color-grading presets to choose from and point zoom to zoom in on any area within the frame for your videos, the V30 is every Youtube and Instagram videographer’s dream come true!
The V30 is no slouch when it comes to audio setup. With four pre-programmed sound settings – enhanced, detailed, live, bass, and Hi-Fi Quad DAC ESS Sabre digital-to-audio converters and three microphones. The V30 allows users to experience high-quality audio out of the box.
LG is also shipping a pair of exceptional B&O earbuds with every Z30.
The V30 has yet to arrive in Malaysia but if it does, its biggest competition (for now) is from Samsung’s Note 8 though we think the LG V3 could be the winner if it’s significantly cheaper than the RM3999 price tag of the Note8.
If you are a mobile videographer or an audiophile, we suggest you find a way to get your hands on the V30.
