Every phone released recently comes with its own gimmick. From dual cameras and bigger screens to Ultra-High Definition screen resolution, everybody is trying to outdo and out evolve each other. Not all of these are bad but they are just ways for the brands to differentiate their devices from each other when at its core, a smartphone is just another smartphone all the same.
So in their bid to outdo the leaders of the mobile pack, HTC has come out with some interesting features and a very interesting gimmick, an innovative input format for their new flagship phone, the HTC U11: Edge Sense squeeze control

EDGE SENSE: JUST SQUEEZE TO INTERACT WITH YOUR PHONE
With the U11, HTC introduces the Edge Sense, ushering in a new way for you to interact with this device. By giving the phone a long or short "squeeze", which is configurable by the users, it's possible for you to access a wide range of functions and applications. The pressure sensors on the phone are located on the sides of the device and by squeezing them, you can access phone functions like the camera, browser, contacts, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, to name a few.
Before, it was a multi-step action to reach these features on other devices, but HTC has simplified it into a single motion for the U11. Simply Brilliant!
CAMERA: SQUEEZE IT, IN ANY WEATHER OR CONDITIONS
Launching the camera on the HTC U11 has never been easier. No more fumbling for that shutter button or having to hold your device at awkward positions. Just lift, smile and squeeze! The smartphone’s water resistance coupled with the Edge Sense technology lets you actually take photos rain or shine and even in winter, you will be able to operate the smartphone easily without having to remove your gloves!
The HTC U11 comes with a 16MP front camera and a new 12MP UltraPixel 3 camera that has been rated as better than the current market competition. This U11 has achieved an incredible DxOMark 90 score, making it the highest rated smartphone ever in DxOMark history. HTC’s impressive multi-axis optical, electronic stabilization system and super-fast autofocus in all lighting conditions make the camera quick, your pictures sharp and videos smooth. HTC improved their camera and videowith HDR Boost for a more dynamic exposure range without the lag, new white balance enhancement, a major reduction in noise, and excellent detail preservation.
SOUND: PRISTINE AUDIO IMMERSION
Shut out interruptions! HTC USonic now incorporates a pretty nifty Active Noise Cancellation function which reduces disruptions and distractions around you, keeping you focused on what you are doing. ANC continuously monitors environmental sound levels, and quickly adjusts to any new noises or disturbances, so you’re free to stay focused on your music, videos or games.
A point to note: the HTC U11 does not come with a 3.5mm headphone jack which is perplexing to us. The phone is not that thin to the point that a headphone jack port could not be engineered into its design. The U11 does come with a pair of headphones that uses the USB Type-C port as a connection point.
The built-in HTC U11’s speakers are loud and clear and can definitely be useful for your music, videos or gaming sessions.
VERDICT: SUMMARY
