The new P20 Pro is the 2018 flagship for Huawei’s P-series. This smartphone is their most impressive camera focused release to date. Alright, let’s have a quick look at what it has to offer.
No kidding, when we dare say that this is the best looking phone in Huawei’s repertoire. The built feels solid and premium with swanky glass-on-glass design. The front face is an almost full-screen 6.1 inch FullHD+ OLED display with a fingerprint sensor nestled on a thin bezel at the bottom. The P20 Pro has comfortably rounded edges and back that fits really well in your hands.
Well, this seems to be the year of the notches. Ever since Apple started putting it on the iPhone X, it seems like everybody is copying them but truth be told, they were not the first and not all notches are made the same. Especially not on the P20 Pro. Huawei made theirs significantly smaller and if you don’t like it, you can hide it. Yes the notch can be hidden just by making the status bar black. Notch a problem!
There are four color options for the P20 Pro on launch: the standard Black, Midnight Blue and two special gradient color schemes - Pink Gold and Twilight. The gradient colors deserves a special mention as the color is unique and dazzling.
The HUAWEI P-series has always been a pioneer of smartphone photography. Now together with Leica, Huawei’s P20 Pro is once again leading the way with the revolutionary Leica Triple Camera. Yes some of you may say, 'hey that layout looks familiar!' but this here is a way better camera than that other one, trust us. The P20 Pro comes with a show-stopping combination of a 8MP f/2.4 telephoto, a 40MP f/1.8 RGB camera and a 20MP f/1.6 monochrome snapper.
With this lens system, the P20 Pro can achieve 3X Optical Zoom, 5X Hybrid Zoom and best-in-class 10X Optical Zoom. The lens system also supports a 960 frames per second slow motion recording.
No more tripods! The P20 Pro comes with AI Image Stabilization that allows you to capture incredible blur-free, handheld shots in low-light using Night Mode that also balances high-contrast scenes for effortlessly clear, light-balanced snaps in any setting.
The Huawei P20 Pro comes with 6GB of RAM, is powered by a 4000mAh battery, runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and driven by a zippy 1.8GHz octa-core Kirin 970 processor.
We think this is not really a deal breaker, but do note that this smartphone does not have a headphone jack and it doesn’t support expandable storage either. It's not that big of a problem as Huawei has included a USB-C adaptor and the phone does come with a whopping 128GB internal storage.
The Huawei P20 Pro will be available in Malaysia starting April 6 for rm3,299. Huawei P20 Pro is a beautifully designed device with significant head start over its current competition. With absolutely useful camera innovations and beefed up internals, the P20 Pro is truly a top-of-the-class mobile photography platform.
To commemorate the launch of the phone, a Huawei roadshow will run from April 6 - 8 at Sunway Pyramid and Sunway Carnival. Don't miss your chance to check out and maybe purchase this slick smartphone!
