Indulge in sweet Honey Toasts at Haraju Cube
by Melina M.

Apart from the fact that the new branch in Sunway Pyramid is basically a kiosk while the Empire Damansara branch is a proper cafe with more seating space, another noticeable difference is in their respective menus.

The Empire Damansara branch offers a more varied menu, serving both sweet and savoury toasts in large sizes meant to be shared among 2 or 3 people, while the Sunway Pyramid branch serves up mini size honey toasts in convenient 'Grab and Go Style' boxes that fit into the palm of your hand perfectly, so you can carry your desserts with you all over the shopping mall.

First up, we ordered the Strawbelicious (RM17.90), as the server at the counter told us that this is the all-time favorite honey toast at Haraju Cube. It is a thick toast laden with strawberries, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and laced with whipped cream. You can also add honey on top as there are bottles of honey on every table.

The edge of the toast is quite hard to cut through, so it can get quite messy to eat this. We recommend digging in directly from the top and working your way through. Once you get to the inside of the toast, you'll see small brown cubes (hence the name of the shop) stacked neatly under the layer of ice cream. These crunchy cubes are toasted with 100% French butter, resulting in a buttery taste, and are delicious to eat with the strawberries and ice cream.

We also ordered the Haraju-Bomb (RM17.90), another tempting honey toast concoction decorated with little chocolate wafers, cookies, banana slices, whipped cream, a scoop of chocolate ice cream and a strawberry on top. What a tempting combination!

Both desserts were tantalizingly appealing visually and hit all the right notes taste-wise. The honey toasts are sweet but not too sweet, and all the elements are balanced well. Strawberry lovers should try the Strawbelicious because of the generous amount of juicy Korean strawberries sprinkled on that toast. We also liked the Haraju-Bomb as the chocolate wafers go really well with whipped cream and ice cream. We didn't feel the need to add a lot of honey, as the toasts are subtly sweet enough already.

Aside from honey toasts, you can also order milk drinks and coffee at Haraju Cube. Have your pick from Coffee Milk, Honey Milk, Fruit Milk, Matcha Milk and Chocolate Milk. We ordered the Matcha Milk (RM10). It tasted quite smooth and delicious, with an aromatic matcha flavour.

Well, head on over to Haraju Cube if you feel like adding a bit of sweetness to your day with these exquisite honey toasts. As their tagline says, this is happiness in the box. Enjoy.
