Our mood got lifted the moment we entered the restaurant seeing the spacious interior setting with, again, mustard yellow tones. What caught our eyes was the pictures hanging on their wall that taught us how to eat a burrito correctly (you will regret if you don’t take a look at those pictures before taking the first bite of your burrito).
We were overwhelmed by the food choices listed on the menu and were tempted by almost all of them. Seeing us scratching our heads, the friendly staff gave us a hand by explaining the menu and which recipes fit our preferences.
Basically, the menu is divided into two sections, one is the customise section or they call it Mix-It-Up where you get to choose the ingredients of your Burrito from base to dressing at only RM16.90. The other one is the preset menu: The regular burrito in wrap or bowl (RM12.90 - RM14.90), tacos (RM3.90 - RM4.90), or the Taco Trio (RM12.90) for your choice of three tacos, quesadilla (RM13.90 - RM15.90), Chef Specials, and the dips and desserts.
We ended up getting a Spiced Grilled Chicken regular burrito, a Taco Trio of Lamb N’ Feta, Steak N’ Chilli and Chicken n’ Corn, a Chicken N’ Egg quesadilla, and three servings of free nachos and drinks, all in all priced at only RM40.70. Wait, what? Yes, you heard right, RM40.70 for ALL OF THAT proud face.
Here’s a review on the food we’ve tried:
The Spiced Grilled Chicken burrito came in a 10" flour tortilla wrapped in chicken chunks, Coriander Rice, Black Beans, Tomato Salsa, Mezcla Hot Sauce, Sour Cream and Guacamole, finished with Shredded Cheese and Lettuce. Taste was good. However, it was a little spicy due to the flavour from the Mezcla Hot Sauce.
The Steak N' Chilli was wrapped with a 4" soft flour corn tortilla that consists of beef chunks, green chilli, and tomato salsa with grated cheese on top. The mixture of fillings went so well with the beef, which was also tender and juicy. Even though the chilli wasn't as spicy as we hoped, but it definitely did give an extra flavour to the tacos. The Chicken N’ Corn taco was a mixture of diced chicken and cooked corn kernels, complemented by the taste of chopped onions and feta cheese toppings. The chicken was very fresh, making the taco less greasy when eaten with other ingredients. Lastly, the Lamb N’ Feta taco was delicious. Soft warm tortillas enveloping juicy pulled lamb topped with chunks of feta cheese, tomatoes, and mint dressing — all with the taste of good, fresh ingredients.
Nacho is always the irresistible side dish for all of us and what’s more if it’s free? It was served as appetizer before we had our main course.
And they even provided different types of sauces to go with the nacho. Spicy, sour, sweet and salty, a complete combination of flavours.
The Fascinating Part
Mezcla encourages its customers to practise self-service and recycling. Customers have to order at the counter, pick up their own food, and clear up the table when they are done eating. There is a food waste disposal area for customers to dispose their waste according to the appropriate rubbish and recycle bins. It’s actually a very good environmental-friendly practice that all of us should uphold to do our part for the earth. thumbs up for this
All in all, we were quite satisfied with our experience there. Food portions were compatible with the price, and taste was above average. It’s recommended to go in a group so that you can try out different recipes on the menu.
